ST. LOUIS — A 15-year-old girl from Hazelwood was shot dead Tuesday night in south St. Louis.

Dornae Hayes was found about 11 p.m. in the 2700 block of Miami Street. She had been shot in the head, police said. She died at a hospital.

Police were alerted to the shooting late Tuesday by the ShotSpotter gunshot-detection system. Dornae was found on a rear porch.

Miami Street is in the city's Gravois Park neighborhood.

Dornae lived in the 6000 block of North Lindbergh Boulevard in Hazelwood.

Dornae is the 11th child to die by gunfire across the St. Louis region this year.
