What is the hardest college in UCSD? ›

Revelle is characterized as hell on Earth. It's regarded as the college with the hardest GE requirements, and is deserving to be the "Ravenclaw" of the campus. Those who are math/science oriented should choose this college because of the breadth they offer. Nonetheless, they are one of the most spirited colleges.

Remember that GE's aren't there to make your life hard — the colleges set up their GE requirements to ensure that their students are well-rounded and have opportunities to explore fields outside of their major. Anecdotally, the colleges with the most flexible (and easier) GE's are Muir and Marshall.

Pass/Not Pass Grade

With the exception of units earned in independent study courses (numbered 199), no more than 25 percent of an undergraduate student's total UC San Diego units may be taken on a P/NP basis. Departments may require that courses applied toward the major be taken on a letter-grade basis.

UC San Diego, like many other universities, values well-rounded applicants who have demonstrated academic achievement, strong extracurricular involvement, and personal qualities that will contribute to the campus community.
