What is the best section to sit in the Ryman? ›

Because the Ryman is an intimate venue, you'll have a great viewing experience no matter where you sit. In general, sitting in the front half of the center or side sections will give you the best view. If you're looking to sit in the side seats, rows B-M in sections 1-7 will typically provide the best experience.

No firearms (with or without a permit) are allowed at Ryman Auditorium. All persons, bags (including purses) and articles are subject to screening and search.

If the seat in the diagram or on a ticket says "obstructed view" take that seriously and don't bother purchasing that seat. It means that there is a big, blocky post between you and your view of the stage. Not a simple post, a chunky post. It is not easy or comfortable to look around it either.

It's true what people say: There's no bad seat at the Ryman. The intimate venue was once a church, and the altar (i.e. the stage) is on full display no matter if you're in the first-row orchestra or last-row balcony. Good for kids?

Ideally, you'll want to sit between five and 12 rows from the stage closer to the center. This will get you close enough to see subtle facial expressions–something especially good if the show you're seeing has one of your favorite stars in it.

Arrive at least a half-hour early for the performance. We got there twenty minutes early and with the security checks, we still didn't get to our seats until 15 minutes after the show started. Quality entertainers, as you would expect in Nashville at the "Mother Church of country music." Just be sure to arrive early.

Jeans and a blouse is just fine. Depending on the time of year, you'll see people in anything from shorts and tshirts to dressier. For the Opry, I always suggest people wear what they are most comfortable wearing out for the evening. You won't be out of place and you're more likely to have an enjoyable time.
